A milestone anniversary of a successful business is a very good reason to celebrate in present economic circumstances. And, that’s exactly what Denis Kinane is doing this week! Denis was awarded the franchise for Honda Cars by Universal Honda in April 1991 and the coming of age of this successful partnership is being celebrated at Denis Kinane Motors, Stradavoher, Thurles this week-end.
To celebrate this milestone, Denis Kinane is offering 3 years free service* for every new car sold from Wednesday 25th April until Thursday 31st May, 2012. He will open longer hours this week-end and all his customers, together with any new friends, should use the opportunity to drop in to offer their congratulations and acknowledge the team’s achievement
Denis attributes his success with Honda to a number of key factors: the outstanding quality and reliability of the Honda products; his great association with Universal Honda and, most importantly, the continued support and loyalty of his customers over the years. Well-known local man Billy O’Brien, Kinane’s longest serving Honda customer, bought his first Civic 4 door GL model in 1991, and is still a regular visitor, friend and customer. Billy called to Denis Kinane to mark the occasion on the day we visited the premises and was pictured with the latest 9th generation Honda Civic at the forecourt of the dealership.
Equally, Denis Kinane paid tribute to his team who are all committed to delivering the highest levels of customer care. Miriam Callanan has been looking after administration from day one and she has the records of every customer who has visited the dealership. Denis is also ably assisted by Colin Holiday in Sales and by his son Damien who heads up the Aftersales division. Qualified Honda technicians, Philip Hogan and Edward Fahy ensure that all cars bought from Denis Kinane are serviced to the highest international standards.
Denis Kinane started from small beginnings when he rented premises on his existing site to sell and service “a few cars”. During the intervening years, he was offered many high profile franchises but it was through some gentle persuasion by Billy Burke, Honda’s Franchise Development Manager at that time, that clinched the franchise partnership deal and now Denis Kinane is synonymous with Honda in Tipperary. During the intervening years, Denis bought the premises and continued to invest heavily in facilities, staff and technology to ensure that his customers are well served. “The market has changed a lot over the years”, said Denis. “Our experiences have been so diverse. When we started demand for Honda cars exceeded supply and customers were more than willing to wait for the car they ordered. Then, we had the Millennium year when 235,000 cars were registered in Ireland and the Celtic Tiger era when buying a new car was a given - we had one customer who traded in four cars in six months, for the colour alone! Now we are experiencing the other end of the spectrum.
Customers today are more conscious of what the car will cost per month to run; CO2 emissions are the order of the day and the cost of road tax is a first question asked in the sales negotiation process. In the area of technology, technicians are more likely to be seen holding a laptop rather than a spanner when diagnosing any faults with a car”.
“The Honda franchise has opened up our business to customers and friends in towns from Clonmel, to Carrick-on-Suir, Nenagh, Horse and Jockey, Cashel, Roscrea, Tipperary Town and many more in between as well as to neighbouring counties”, he added.
