the Mayor of Nenagh, Cllr Seamus Morris has praised local business organisations and local clubs for making his sports tourism project “an amazing success”.
“This week will see the first group of people coming to Nenagh as part of my sports tourism initiative. A total of 77 people from St Thomas Aquinas in Kansas will come to Nenagh on Wednesday and stay in the Abbey Court Hotel for three days. They will march in the St Patricks Day parade, entertain the crowds in The Hibernian inn on St Patrick’s Night, visit Dromineer and eat in the Thatched Cottage, Ballycommon. They will also play Nenagh Ormond RFC in two games this Friday, Marc 18, from 6.30pm,” he said.
The Mayor revealed that he narrowly missed out on bringing a group of 120 Argentinians for the parade also.
“I have spent the past week meeting Nenagh Chamber of Commerce, Nenagh Ormond and the staff of the Abbey court Hotel to ensure that this initial group gets the welcome they deserve. I have also had comfirmation from Irish Rugby Tours, who are organising the tour for STA rugby, that they have comfirmed two further groups for Nenagh, with a possible four more for the town,” he said.
