Fostering and Fundraising are two great ways in which members of the public can help us at Cottage Rescue to continue helping animals in need.
At present, due to an influx of abandoned and neglected animals, our resources are stretched to their limits.
Fostering is a fantastic way for your family to help an animal in need at no financial cost to yourself.
It can be a marvellous experience for the whole family and can be a great way for people to experience pet ownership without committing to the life-time of a pet.
Fostering entails welcoming one of our rescue animals (cat or dog) into your home for a short period of time.
This stay gives the dogs a break from the sometimes-stressful kennel environment and, in many cases, offers them their first experience of loving, family life.
We run a fostering programme designed to ensure that the stay is as beneficial and hassle-free as possible for both the animal and family.
We ask our foster families to complete a short application form to give us an insight into which type of animal would best suit their home life.
The family then comes to meet a suitable animal, and if they are happy, the animal will go to stay with the family for a pre-determined length of time.
We supply our foster families with all of the animal’s needs (food, bowls, bedding etc.) for the duration of their stay, so all it will cost you is your time and affection.
Fundraising for Cottage Rescue could take many forms – cake/bric-a-brac sales, bag-packing, tea/coffee mornings, non-uniforms days, donations, support of our fundraising events etc.
This list is not exhaustive and the bottom line is that every cent counts – and it wouldn’t hurt if you could have a little fun along the way while raising a few euros for animals in need!
Every animal we take in places a burden on our funding, the cost of their food, medical care, vaccinations, worm/flea treatments, microchipping and neutering soon add up to a hefty sum and in order for us to keep afloat and continue helping animals we need the public’s assistance!
