EXCITEMENT and mystery surrounds the identity of the Monday Million player, who bought the winning lottery ticket in Fethard. The lucky winner bought the €1.50 Quick Pick ticket in the Post Office, on Fethard’s Main Street, on Monday.

The prize has not yet been claimed. All winners have 90 days from the day of the draw to collect a prize.

Postmaster Barry Connolly said they don’t know who the winner is, but there’s plenty of local conjecture as to who the lucky punter might be.

“I don’t think anybody knows it. It’s great for them. There’s been great excitement here all day,” said Mr Connolly. The staff at the Post Office would like to wish “all the best of luck” to the winner, added Mr Connolly.

“May they have the best of luck with it.” National Lottery policy allows the winner full confidentiality when taking home their winnings.
