The Suir Vale Harriers Hunting Festival takes place in Upperchurch and surrounding districts from Wed. 9th March to Sun. 13th March.
This annual event donates all proceeds to charity and this year the designated charity will be The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The festival sees five visiting packs of hounds hunting on consecutive days and is a great opportunity for hunting enthusiasts who travel from throughout Ireland and from as far afield as England and Europe each year. The card for the festival is: Wed. 9th - Brosna Foxhounds [ Co Westmeath ] at Rearcross.
Thur. 10th - Duhallow Foxhounds [ Co Cork ] at Upperchurch.
Fri. 11th - Carrigshane Harriers [ Co Cork ] at Kilcommon.
Sat. 12th - Kilmoganny Foxhounds [Co Kilkenny ] at Glastrigan
Sun. 13th - Macroom Foxhounds [ Co Cork ] at Upperchurch.
All meets are at 12 noon and cap will be collected each day for The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The festival happens to coincide with the Society’s annual Church Gate collection on Sat 12th and Sun. 13th and it is hoped that hunters and Mass goers alike will generously support this worthy cause.
A raffle and evening of music and song is also planned for Kinane’s Pub Upperchurch on the closing night Sun 13th Mar
