Coláiste Phobal Roscré News

Senior Camogie

On Wednesday October 10th, the senior Camogie team travelled to Dr. Morris Park in Thurles to take on the Ursuline Convent in round 2 of the Intermediate A Camogie league campaign. Coláiste Phobal knew they had a serous battle on their hands as the Ursuline had already defeated New Inn, Galway on a hefty score-line. Playing without our Shinrone girls (due to Club commitments), it now afforded an opportunity for our players to really push themselves and fight for a place on the starting 15. The game itself was a 50/50 battle, evenly contested in all positions on the field. It was a very physical and tough encounter for 60 minutes. In fact the score-line doesn’t do the game justice. Both goalies on the day were superb. The driving force behind a strong Ursuline team were Lorna O’Dwyer, Roisín Comerford, Aoife McGrath and Aoife Walsh. For Coláiste Phobal, all players gave 120% led by Maireád Teehan. Stephanie Kenny excelled at centre-back as did Ciara Murphy, who was full-back on the day. Our girls fought for every ball and never gave up. Next match is against New Inn, Galway in Roscrea G.A.A field on Tuesday October 16th at 11.30am. Sincere thanks to Pat (Groundsman) in Dr. Morris Park, Thurles and to Eamonn Browne, our Referee.
