Corville School was a hype of activity on Wednesday last with the opening of the schools two new tennis courts. Despite the rain, spirits were high as the children look forward to many hours of fun on the new courts.

Corville was delighted to welcome renowned tennis coach Gail O’Meara to officially open the courts. Gail is a well known face on the tennis circuit and has represented Munster and Ireland on several occasions. Due to the adverse weather conditions proceedings had to be quickly moved to the hall for some indoor tennis. It was time for 6th class to take on the teachers. While the games were neck and neck it was 6th class who emerged victorious in the end! Well done to all the boys and girls involved.

This was followed by a tennis demonstration by Gail and Mark O’Meara, where both pupils and teachers picked up a few valuable tennis tips to aid their game. The pupils in Corville look forward to putting these all important tips into practice and working on their tennis skills over the coming months and years. Who knows? Maybe the next Federer or Williams will hail from Corville’s Centre Court!
