Refusal to provide Bus Shelter for Bansha is “not justifiable” - McGrath

Bus Shelter for Bansha?

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has said that the decision of the National Transport Authority (NTA) to deny funding for the construction of a Bus Shelter for Bansha village is “not the end of the matter”.

Deputy McGrath was speaking after receiving correspondence from NTA Chief Executive Mr Gerry Murphy which outlined the fact that due to limited funding available, it would not be possible to provide a bus shelter in Bansha: “The NTA is charged with devising and implementing projects to enhance people’s use of public transport. According to those criteria alone it has failed the people of Bansha by continuing to insist that they stand in all kinds of inclement weather while they wait for their bus. This is certainly not in line with enhancing people’s use of public transport and that it is actually a health risk by failing to provide shelter to young children or the sick or elderly.”
