Thurles Premises Finalist in Best Presented Shopfront 2012

Deirdre Cox, Environmental Awareness Officer, North Tipperary County Council notified Refresh Thurles that of the 17 Thurles premises nominated for the Council’s Best Presented Shopfront Award 2012 one has been selected as a finalist.

Congratulations to De Burca’s Pub on Cathedral Street, owner Marie Bourke is delighted with the recognition. The winners will be announced at the Environmental Awards Event on November 19th, Marie and guest have been invited to attend so best of luck to De Burcas as they carry the flag for Thurles. Had the judges visited inside they would surely have been equally impressed, a cheery open fire welcomes visitors to a cosy location with many nice spots to share a drink with friends. Open 7 nights a week De Burcas is well worth a visit, try Friday nights for the Trad Session starting at 10pm. Hopefully next year Thurles can have more finalists in the Best Presented Shop Front Competition.

On November 20th at 8pm in Hayes Hotel, Refresh Thurles are holding a meeting regarding the town appearance. Town Council plans to deliver Town Park and refurbish Liberty Square by 2014 are most welcome. In the meantime there may be initiatives that can be undertaken so all are welcome to attend the meeting or forward ideas for consideration. We hope to create a town image that is positive and welcoming to visitors and a source of pride and satisfaction to residents. Email: Refreshthurles@gmail.com
