The Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade Committee will hold its AGM next week on Tuesday October 2nd at 8:00pm in Mikey Ryans. All past and present members are invited to attend and new faces are always welcome.

The 2013 St. Patrick’s Day falls on Sunday the 17th of March. “it will be a great opportunity for everyone to take part” said Chamber secretary Sean Laffey who added “it looks like it could be a really great weekend with the highlight of course being the Parade on the Sunday afternoon.”

Parade chairperson John O’Byrne told us the purpose of the AGM is to sort out the core team to get to work as soon as possible on the 2013 parade. “It’s not just about fundraising, which is very important as this is a 100% voluntary group and every cent goes into providing an enjoyable and safe parade for the town. We also need extra volunteers to make sure the day goes off smoothly. The route is over 2 miles long and the crowds number in their thousands, as you can imagine this takes a deal of effort to stewards and we are indebted to the Gardai and South Tipperary Civil Defence for all their help with out parade but we can always do with more people on the ground.”

Sean Laffey added that the parade is always open to fresh ideas and new faces “like every organisation we need new blood to keep the old fells on their toes and to keep the things fresh. We don’t want to become complacent with the organisation. Every year there are new challenges and that makes sure we stay focused on the job at hand. And for anyone who thinks they might like to volunteer we can offer them a great time on the day and the fun of being right at the centre of the action.”

So come along to Mikey Ryans on the 2nd of October, you’ll be more than welcome. Please text apologies with “St. Pats Parade” and your name to 0879821916
