Remove Sugar Industry Re-development Restrictions
BEET Ireland is organising two grower information meetings in Kilkenny and Cork as part of its programme to redevelop the Irish sugar industry. The meetings will brief growers on the current status of the CAP negotiations vis a vis Ireland’s re-entry to sugar production, as well as outlining the critical stages of these negotiations over the coming months.
The removal of current restrictions placed on Ireland since the introduction of the 2006 EU Sugar Reform Regime is the challenge before the Irish Government.
While the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine is now committed to the redevelopment of Ireland’s sugar industry, it does not have a clear roadmap of how this is likely to happen.
BEET Ireland will provide a project update on its work in recent months and its plans for 2013. Ensuring that growers play a central role in the redevelopment of Ireland’s sugar industry is a strategic objective of BEET Ireland. All growers that are committed to re-developing Ireland’s sugar industry are invited to attend.
