Gleeson Group Takeover
Deputy Michael Lowry has made contact with C&C management in relation to the proposed takeover of the Gleeson group.
In discussion with the Bulmers Managing Director Michael Merrins he has requested C&C to communicate to the work force at Gleesons what their future plan is for the Borrisoleigh headquarters and its manufacture plant.
Deputy Lowry said there is widespread concern and anxiety regarding the potential impact on the existing operation and its employees.
“Gleeson group is a steadfast major employer and an enormous contributor to the local economy. It is vital that its current operations are protected into the future.”
“There are consequences for employment should C&C have a policy to centralize any element of its production at another location.”
“Due to the C&C dominance in the marketplace the Competition Authority must examine and scrutinize the implications of this deal,” he said.
