This year saw our second year for the Rose of Thurles.

It all started last Saturday morning (Oct 13th) when our nine fab roses got pampered in the Boutique hair salon on Parnell Street where Natasha and her team did a great job. The girls then made their way to Brownes hair and beauty supplies in Friar Street to get their make up done by Margaret which again was a great job. At 6pm the the girls started to gather in Younges the Ragg where they gathered to get dressed in some cases and others to settle their nerves. Guests were greeted to a cheese and wine reception. Our dance troop from Dwans School of Dance prepared with stretches and pleas to kick start the show with a fantastic fairytail dance of nine beautiful girls dressed with hand held flower hoops and flowers in there hair.

When they finished the Mac from Tipp fm took to the stage to interview our nine roses who were Georgia of Parkers Thurles, Dorcas of Brownes Hair & Beauty supplies, Emma from Jim Kennedys, Amy from Two-mile-Borris & St Kevin’s FC, Derbhla from Parkers Holycross, Emma from Younges the Ragg, Siobhan from Guys & Dolls ( whose escort won best escort well done Martin and also there was her Grandad) Janet from Tescos and Emma from Premier take away Littleton. During the interval Dwans school of dancing performed a jazz piece. Guest speakers included Martin Cahill Head of fund raising of Cystic fibrosis, Tipperary Rose Lisa Hickey and Cllr Jim Ryan announced best escort. Last year’s Rose Amy Dwyer who represented the Source Café attended the night to hand over the tiara. She spoke about how eventful her year was and how proud she was to be the first Rose of Thurles. It was also Amy’s 21 birthday. We would like to thank her for all her efforts.
