Coonan Welcomes Allocation For Water Schemes

Noel Coonan TD has welcomed an allocation of €252,000 for rural water schemes in North Tipperary. The local Fine Gael TD said unspent monies from the Rural Water Programme were released across a number of local authorities last week.

Deputy Coonan said: “There was a total of €193,000 assigned to North Tipperary County Council for Small Public Schemes. The selection of these schemes is devolved to the local authorities.

“There was a further amount of €59,000 assigned to North Tipperary County Council for Group Scheme Upgrades in Ballinderry, Brittas, Cloneybrien, Fantane, Abbeyville, Corbally Portroe, Castlelough, Bawn/Kiliffity/Kilemare and Ardcroney,” said the local TD.

“This allocation of a quarter of a million euro was announced by my Fine Gael colleague Environment Minister Phil Hogan and it will benefit a number of areas. I will continue to lobby Minister Hogan to prioritise funding for County Tipperary.”

The Rural Water Programme is administered by local authorities and is comprised of a number of measures to address deficiencies in group water schemes, small public water and sewerage schemes and private supplies where no alternative group or public supply is available”.
