Cashel Lions Club Peace Poster Competition

Cashel Lions Club President, Paul Monks, presented the prizes in the club’s Peace Poster Competition in the Parish Centre, Friar Street on Friday night last. The President congratulated the winners in the twelve schools that took part and particularly singled out the overall winner, Roisín Heffernan of Ballytarsna N.S., whose winning entry will now go forward to the national competition.

He also thanked the teachers in the participating schools for their support of the project. In all over one hundred and sixty children took part in the twelve schools.

The overall standard was very good, according to the adjudicator, Maureen Derby, who pointed out the strong points in each of the winning entries to the attendance.

The school winners were as follows: Kellie Quirke, Ballagh N.S., Sophie Ryan, Ballinure N.S., Roisín Heffernan, Ballytarsna N.S., Ciara Trainor, Boherlahan N.S., Elaine Graves, Deanery Cashel N.S., Padraig Quirke, Golden N.S., Sani Mahartan, Knockavilla N.S., Aoife O’Connor, New Inn Girls N.S., Harry Tobin, Rosegreen N.S., Saoirse Ryan, Rossmore N.S., Oskar Puzans, St, John the Baptist Boys N.S., Emily McGrath, St. John the Baptist Girls N.S.

The posters will be on display in the Cashel Credit Union, Main Street, for the next two weeks. The Lions co-ordinator of the project was Richard Long.
