The Ursuline Secondary School and Colaiste Mhuire Co-Ed, Thurles were the Senior and Junior category winners of the Student Enterprise Awards County Competition with took place on Wednesday last 9th March at the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh.
Both schools will now represent North Tipperary at the National Final which takes place on 14th April at Croke Park
This year 131 students from 7 second level schools competed in the County competition which carried a prize fund of almost €3,000. The competition which is run nationwide by the County and City Enterprise Boards began in 2002 and is designed to increase enterprise awareness in the education system and to inculcate an entrepreneurial spirit among students and almost 15,000 students participated in last year’s competition.
The County competition which is run by the Tipperary North County Enterprise Board took place in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh on Wednesday last and attracted a large attendance of parents, teachers, business and agency representatives who visited the 36 trade stands/displays and listened to power point presentations made by three entries from each of the seven schools competing in the senior category.
External adjudicators are brought in by the Enterprise Board to judge the entries which are marked against a national criteria to include business report, product sample, trade stand and interview.
