Elected members of Tipperary Co. Council will meet in committee with the IDA and Enterprise Ireland next month

Having tabled motions at the Cashel/Tipperary Municipal District and Tipp Co. Council meetings in recent months calling for such a meeting, Cllr Tom Wood is pleased that a date has been set. “This will be the first time since the establishment of the new Tipperary County Council that elected members, IDA and Enterprise Ireland staff will have the opportunity to meet and discuss the jobs situation within the County with a view to highlighting potential areas for creating new opportunities and mapping out ways of working together.” He will also seek an update on progress relating to the former Cordis, Johnson and Johnson plant in Cashel which closed in 2011 with the loss of 133 jobs and a further 90 part-time contract workers. An announcement some months ago that a Singapore company was about to purchase the modern plant was widely welcomed and there was expectation that further news of a jobs boost for Cashel was immanent.
