Christmas blow for Kilkeel hotel staff

More than twenty people have lost their jobs just days before Christmas with the closure of the Kilmorey Arms hotel in Kilkeel.

The hotel, which ceased trading on Tuesday, was the only one operating in the Co Down town which is home to the largest fishing fleet in the province.

A total of 22 full and part -time staff have been laid off and in a statement administrators said they were currently assessing options for the business.

It is not known if any Christman functions were planned at the hotel located on Greencastle Street in the town.
