On October 17th, Roscrea Credit Union Joined 56,000 other Credit Unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union Day.
This annual event commemorates the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. In honour of this special day, Roscrea Credit Union invited its members to join them for some refreshments and to participate in a feedback and questions and answers session about the credit union. Despite all the pressures that the credit union has had to withstand over the past few years in particular dealing with lending restrictions, the comments and feedback received were extremely positive. The credit union was heartened by members understanding of the difficulties we are working through and the confidence placed in us as we emerge from these difficulties as a strong, healthy credit union able to satisfy it’s members.
The credit union envisages that it will be in a position to announce the 2010/2011 agm’s soon and the 2012/2013 agm’s will follow quickly after that. We would encourage members to continue to save, as good savings are now extremely important when it comes to loan underwriting which was always one of the basic principals of operating a credit union. In addition we would remind members in arrears that they must communicate with their credit union, otherwise the full rigours of the legal system will be enforced so as to protect your fellow members and the credit union. The mechanics are quiet simple. The more members that pay their loan payments on time, the greater the pool of money for the credit union to distribute to borrowers which means more money being put back into the local economy leading to jobs, growth and prosperity for our town and neighboring parishes.
Throughout credit union day a number of sport prizes were won in addition to three main prizes consisting of travel vouchers. Congratulations in particular to the winners of those vouchers that included, Tibor Meszara, Catherine Donovan and Tadhg Kirby. Thanks again to all our members for their continued support.
