Sarah Guilfoyle, from Devils Bit Macra na Feirme Club, is to travel to Tullamore, Co Offaly, this weekend to take part in the 48th Queen of the Land festival sponsored by FBD.
Sarah is a Farmer and secretary and her hobbies include: welly throwing, horse riding and swimming.
The Queen of the Land sponsored by FBD takes place from the 9th to 11th November in Tullamore. This year as every year, Offaly Macra na Feirme will welcome a host of beautiful girls to the Faithful County. The 48th Festival sees a record 27 Queens participating representing Macra na Feirme counties and regions throughout Ireland.
Over three event packed days they will be appraised by a distinguished judging panel who will take into account appearance, personality, energy, confidence, dress sense, rural knowledge and elocution to choose the contestant which best exudes the qualities of today’s modern rural woman.
The 2012 judging panel are: Amanda Brennan (Representative of FBD Insurance), Joe Healy (Livestock Editor with the Farming Independent and former Macra na Feirme President) and Bernie Woods (reigning 2011 Queen of the Land).
The Official Opening of the Festival takes place at 8pm on Friday 9th November in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore. Ireland’s top comedian Karl Spain Live on Stage at 9.30pm, followed by Disco until late. Tickets at €20, available from the Bridge House Hotel.
The Queens will face interviews with the judging panel in the Bridge House from 8.00am on Saturday 10th November. The group travels to Hugh Lynch’s Bar in the afternoon where they will be introduced to their escorts. The Queens will be put through their paces by MC Deric Hartigan (TV3e and RSVP Magazine) for the onstage interviews. These begin at 8pm sharp in the Tullamore Court Hotel. Music afterwards by Deuces Wild, entry €15 at the door.
The Gala Banquet takes place at 7pm on Sunday 11th November at the Bridge House Hotel. The announcement and crowning of the 2012 Queen of the Land sponsored FBD will take place at 11pm. Music by Mike Denver, tickets €50 from Bridge House Hotel.
