Thurles Chamber Enterprise Centre held its annual business plan competition for its TESS participants on Tuesday 2 May. The judging panel included representatives from Thurles Chamber ,Tipperary North County Enterprise Board , AIB Bank Thurles and LIT.

The standard of business venture and the standard of presentation were very high on the day.

Each contestant produced a ten minute presentation on his/her business and this was followed by a ten minute question and answer session where the judges could seek additional clarifications on the business. Contestants were then scored by the judges at the end of each presentation.

During the course of the TESS programme each participant develops their business and also refines their business plan. These business plans were the result of eight months of market research and business development.

Each entrepreneur will have received over 20 days of training and had access to mentors who worked with them over the eight month period to produce a viable business model and a business plan that reflects that model.

The winners shared a total of E18,000 in prizes consisting of cash, mentoring and professional services.

The winners were:

1st Prize E9,000 - Dr Sinead Hanafin

2nd Prize E6,000 - Noel Cahill – Mr Sportsgift

3rd Prize E3,000 - Edmund Dwyer – InCloud Logistics.

These awards are a very important component of the TESS programme and reflect the very high standard of start-up business resident in the TCEC. We would like to express our thanks to the judging panel who unselfishly gave of their time to make the competition a success.
