Concerns for future of J&J Cashel plant
A ‘To Let’ sign at the site of the J&J manufacturing plant on the Cahir road in Cashel is adding to the growing concern for the future of the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.
Cllr Tom Wood has sought clarification from the IDA as to the present status of the former Johnson & Johnson plant in Cashel after the sign was erected some weeks ago. “Last February’s announcement that it was to be sold (to a Singaporean company) and that the town was to prepare for a major jobs boost was widely welcomed.” At this month’s meeting of Tipp/Cashel Municipal District, Cllr Wood said the jobs announcement was made with much fanfare back in February with hopes high for a major jobs boost for the town. However, this has not materialised.
