CULTURE NIGHT IN TIPPERARY

Take in the sights and sounds of the Premier County with a bumper packed list of events taking place across the county as part of 2016 Culture Night.

First up on the list is an evening of music and poetry celebrating the life and legacy of Thomas MacDonagh in the Thomas MacDonagh Centre on Lower Main Street, Cloughjordan at 8pm. Musician and producer Martin Butler will launch his CD 'Thomas MacDonagh : Poet and Patriot' on the night which promises to be a memorable event in the culture night programme.
In Mullinahone come celebrate the tenth anniversary of Crocanoir in music, song, poetry and prose with local artists as part of Culture Night 2016 while on Saturday night mark Crocanoir's tenth birthday with 1994 Eurovision song contest winner Charlie McGettigan performing in concert. Tickets are available by contacting 086 8907329.
Elsewhere in the county Castleiney N.S. and parish will host a Ceili night in Castleiney Community Hall from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. For more information call 0504 32474.
Meanwhile young and old alike are sure to enjoy puppet show 'Circus Stachamoose' in Scoil Eoin Hall, Roscrea which kicks off at 7pm -9pm.

Deirdre O' Kane at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles
After a seven-year break from stand up, during which she had babies, made a movie in Vietnam and became the mother of Moone Boy, Deirdre O’Kane returns with a brand new show. She is definitely older but is she wiser? O'Kane tells all in her new show 1DEE this Saturday night at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles. Tickets cost €18. Show starts at 8pm.

Cashel Arts Festival 2016
15-18 September: Street performers, music, storytelling and literature are all on the cards this weekend as Cashel Arts Fest gets underway with a jammed packed schedule of events for all the family. While some events have already sold out, there is still plenty for young and old alike to be kept entertained. Keep a special eye out for Daniel Doyle's sand sculpture's which have been specially created for the festival with Daniel using the sights and sounds of Cashel as his inspiration! Anyone interested in taking part in one of the many workshops on offer over the weekend are advised to book immediately as numbers are limited. Portumna Shorelines Arts Festival 2016
15-18 September: The ninth Shorelines Arts Festival takes place in Portumna, Co. Galway this weekend with a wide variety of arts events taking place over four days including theatre, music, poetry, art, film and a children's programme. The festival also showcases excellent pieces of artwork from community art groups in Portumna as well as encouraging local artists to showcase their work. Spectators can also expect to learn a new skill or two from one of the many workshops running throughout the festival. For more information see shorelinesartfestival.com

Family Fun BBQ
Miss Tipperary 2016, Niamh Kennedy is hosting a family fun BBQ on Saturday 17, September in Larkins from 5pm to 8pm. BBQ, music, face painting and fantastic raffle prizes to be won on the night. All proceeds raised from the event will go to the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland.

SPORT
The Senior Hurling final takes place this Sunday between Kilruane and Kildangan in Cloughjordan which will also make up part of the 1916 centenary celebrations.
