Arts Festival buzz around Cashel

There was a great buzz around Cashel for the start of the 2014 Arts Festival.

The Plaza was a riot of colour, from the decorative bunting created by local craft groups, the mix of stands from organic foods to beautifully crafted ceramics and many other quality crafts available.

The musical talents of the Brass Band and Michael Ryan’s Tipperary Youth Orchestra gave the day a really festive atmosphere. Pride of place went to the beautiful rushwork sculptures of Gerardine Wisdom that have been ‘stabled’ in Garvey’s Supervalu and which have become a real talking point. The ‘horse’ with its specially commissioned Arts Fest blanket together with a ‘farmer’ and a ‘nun’ representative of three major features in the economic and cultural life of Cashel are. Children enjoyed making their own ‘hay and straw’ animals on the Plaza as well as the family workshops taking place in the ‘Create’ Café.
