Tipp Racecourse hosts ‘Pride Fest’

The atmosphere was full of excitement from the Pride contestants at the launch of the 2014 Pride of Tipperary Festival at Tipperary Racecourse last Thursday.

The atmosphere was full of excitement from the Pride contestants at the launch of the 2014 Pride of Tipperary Festival at Tipperary Racecourse last Thursday.

This year’s launch see’s 13 contestants take part in this annual festival. The launch this year was also celebrates the last 50 years of the history involved in the Pride of Tipperary Festival. Many of the previous 50 years winners attended, with contestants, and committee members. Laura Jones Chairperson of this year’s Pride of Tipperary Festival, welcomed all the invited guests & sponsors to this year’s event, and mentioned “how fantastic it was to have an event of this nature for the town of Tipperary and its environs. It has become part of the locality’s social fabric for the last 50 years.” This is the second longest running event of its kind in Ireland, after the Rose of Tralee Festival. The Festival has a history of working with local charities and this year’s committee are delighted to team up again with the very worthy Tipperary Lions Club as the main beneficiaries of this year’s event. The programme of events includes a Table Quiz on Mon June 30th in Kiely’s Bar, a Fashion Show in Ballykisteen Hotel on Thu July 3rd, Penalty Shoot­out in Cooke Park on Wed July 9, a Gala Dinner in Aherlow House Hotel on Thu July 10th and Festival Finale on Sat July 12 in Tipperary Town at 8pm. www.theprideoftipperary.com.
