Sarah, who was sponsored by Kiely’s Bar and Lounge had, at all times, been a very fine candidate and a deserving winner. Her grace, poise and genuine cordiality, coupled with the professional and personal ambition which she emanated during the fortnight running up to the final, were all factors in this year’s judges’ decision to crown Sarah as Pride of Tipperary. The Long Way To Tipperary Festival, which began last Thursday (July 16th) ensured that there were a myriad of activities and events around Tipperary Town over the weekend. Great excitement was being shown at this year’s All-Ireland Churn Rolling Championship which took place on Friday evening; the final of which was held on Main Street directly before the Pride crowning. It was a shame that the weather broke, but the Pride contestants looked stunning and never faltered during the final pre-crowning interviews with Willie Bun. Willie, in his usual fun-loving and roguish character, set the girls at ease on what must have been a tense and nervous wait before the big revelation.
