For the second year in succession Met Eireann issued a severe weather warning to coincide with the holding of the Rosegreen Field Day.
The rain held off thankfully until six o’clock by which time the event was over, but the wind and unseasonal cold were ever present but failed to deter the regular patrons who again turned up in big numbers to support the evergreen gathering. The day kicked off with an underage hurling and camogie blitz. Golden won the hurling, beating Rosegreen in the final to lift the Charlie Power Cup, while Kickhams accounted for New Inn to win the Lou O’Grady Memorial Cup. In a poignant little after match ceremony team captain Meagan O’Grady, was presented with the cup bearing her grandmother’s name. The Dog Show at these local events continue to hold there popularity with an ever increasing array of breeds on display.
