All roads led to Golden on Sunday night for Strictly “by the Suir” a fundraiser run jointly by Golden GAA Club and KIlfeacle and District Rugby Club.

Thankfully the organisers didn’t try to emulate neighbours, Boherlahan, last year and go alfresco, on one of the foulest night’s of the year so far such a decision would have left participants and audience alike wondering if they were in, rather than by the Suir. The community hall was literally full to capacity as upwards of seven hundred patrons came to support the event. I don’t know what the folk of bygone days would have made of it all, the likes of this has not be not seen locally before,it was like The Eurovision Song Contest, Oscars Night and Rocky all in one. The normally tiny stage was enlarged to impressive proportions and with it’s starry starry sky backdrop and lighting kaleidoscope the scene was pure Broadway.
