The March Roscrea Cardiac Responders launched the GoodSam Alerter phone App on Friday 13th.
The Responders made an announcement that as of midnight on 12th March they are “Live” in support of the National Ambulance Service. This means that the group can respond rapidly in the event of a 999 call for Cardiac Arrest, Heart Attack, Stroke, Choking or respiratory difficulties. Kerry Ann Nolan, coordinator for the group, said that as volunteers the responders would be calledout in support to the Ambulance service. All responders are trained and certified by the Irish Heart Foundation. “We are a support to, and not a replacement for, your local ambulance. In an emergency please dial 999/112 and ask for an ambulance.” At this week’s launch was Des Kelly head of the National Ambulance Service Community First Responder Scheme. Also present was Richard Quinlan Paramedic with NAS. See photo at top.
