A recently-retired art teacher Catherine Daly is proving to be a very interesting and intriguing Irish modern still life artist. She brings together an intensity of subject matter with her recurring themes, pushing and stretching the concept to its full potential.

Having completed many commissioned works in the past Catherine found she had very little work to show in her studio and therefore embarked on a new series of still life on a table, using a table as an anchor throughout the work. She has been commissioned to do many portraits and posthumous portraits of recognisable figures nationwide using a variety of media including pencil, pastel, charcoal and oils. The official portrait of Dr Morris, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly, is one of many famous portraits Catherine was commissioned to do. This painting can be viewed in the Bishop’s Palace in Thurles while Catherine’s other works can be seen in collections all across the nation.
