The Source Film Club returns with a new season of films this January, beginning with Irish comedy drama ‘Gold’ which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Twelve years after leaving town down-on-his-luck Ray (David Wilmot) returns home to try and reconnect with his ex-girlfriend Alice (Tipperary native Kerry Condon) and teenage daughter Abbie (Maisie Williams) as well as visit his dying father.

However, his attempts to build a relationship with his daughter are complicated by the presence of self-obsessed Frank (James Nesbitt), Alice’s current partner and Ray’s former PE teacher who is pushing Abbie to succeed at track-and-field.

In ‘Gold’ writer-director Niall Heery examines the difficulties involved in attempting to rebuild relationships with estranged families and mines it for humour as Ray’s well-meaning efforts to be a father again proves disastrous for everyone involved.

‘Gold’, starring Kerry Condon, will be screened at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, January 14th at 8pm.

Tickets are priced at €9 (€7 concession and €5 for Film Club members).
