Fr. Paddy Ryan’s long awaited book on Archbishop Miler Magrath, was launched by Willie Nolan, Professor Emeritus of Geography in Bru Boru on Wednesday night last.
With interest in history, particularly local history on a high it was no surprise then that the auditorium should be full as the subject of the book and its author have strong local connections. The launch of such a highly significant publication might have been expected to be arduous, but thanks to the communication skills of Professor Nolan, the event for the non academic was most enjoyable. As he flicked in and out between the life and times of Fr. Paddy and his notorious subject he managed in a humorous way to connect the different ages and one was left with the impression that when it comes to power and money and more importantly there controlling influences things have changed little right up to the present day.
