Kem White is the very popular Cashel Person of the Year for 2014.

She is the 27th person to be elected to the position since Cashel Lions Club inaugurated the award in 1987. She received her award from Lion President, Paul Monks, at a function in the Civic Offices, Friar Street on March 14 before a good attendance of family and friends. Kem White is best known for her involvement with St. Patrick’s Brass Band. Recently she took over leadership of the 160 year-old band from her father, Gus McDonnell, and she has proved herself to be an inspiring leader. Her nominators, Geraldine Stockil and Liz Conneelly, spoke of her service to the community, organising concerts in the locality. Lions President, Paul Monks, was high in his praise of Kem and considered her an outstanding recipient of the prestigious award. Kem succeeds Margaret O’Toole as Cashel Person of the Year. Margaret was present at the event and was presented with a replica of the Cashel Person of the Year trophy.
