The Source Film Club will host a screening of ‘Le Weekend’ at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, April 2nd at 8pm - tickets are priced at €9 (€7 concession and €5 for Film Club members).
In ‘Le Weekend’ an aging couple’s trip to Paris brings to the fore all the resentment and frustration that has crept into their marriage.
‘Le Weekend’ is Roger Michell’s comedy drama about the ups and downs of long-term marriage and growing old.
Nick (Jim Broadbent) and Meg (Lindsay Duncan) are nearing their 30th wedding anniversary and to celebrate decide to take a trip to Paris, the scene of a memorable honeymoon all those years ago.
However, they soon discover that a lot has changed in that time, most notably their feelings for each other.
Although approaching what should be a comfortable near retirement, both find themselves yearning for the adventure of their youth while recent changes at home have only added to the bitterness.
Then they encounter an old friend of Nick’s and discover a new vision of what life and marriage could be.
‘Le Weekend’ is both a funny and poignant film which provides a fresh insight into what it means to be in love as we get older.
