The Source Arts Centre, in conjunction with The Source Café, Thurles Library and Thurles Leisure Centre, will host a day of family-friendly entertainment and live music on July 6th to celebrate national play and recreation day!
If you haven’t been to your local arts centre, public library or leisure centre this is your opportunity to pack up the kids and join the team at the arts centre for a day they will keep talking about for a long time.
The Source Arts Centre (0504 90204) Schedule - 11am – Backstage Tours (20 capacity, 20 minutes) - get a tour behind the curtain. See how the lights and sound work to create a great live show. Must be booked in advance at box office. 12pm – Whitenoise Beatbox Workshop for 11 to 14-year-olds, €10 – theatre. 2pm – Whitenoise Beatbox Workshop for 15 to 18-year-olds, €10 – theatre. 1pm – 4pm Kraft Korner – gallery - Claire and Aileen return with their fabulous crafty projects for children. 1pm – 3pm Face painting – gallery - let Danielle and Sam transform you into a stunning butterfly or cool Spiderman. 2pm – 5pm BBQ on the Boardwalk - enjoy sizzling meats and salad with a refreshing drink from the bar. 4pm Live Music on the Boardwalk - local band Le Noise (David ‘Sully’ O’Sullivan, Jim ‘Gogga’ Fanning, Eoin ‘Bono’ Ryan, Neil ‘Shaughs’ Shaughnessy & Cian Cronin) will provide afternoon entertainment on the boardwalk. Expect appearances from special guests too!
Thurles Library (www.tipperarylibraries.ie or 0504 29720) - 11am – Story Time with Breda - Come along to the library and let Breda entertain the little ones with stories. Suitable for 3 to 6-year-olds. 12pm - Pirate Hat Making - help to launch the Treasure Island Summer challenge, make your own pirate hat with Jane. Suitable for 5 to 9-year-olds. 11.30am – 1pm ‘Play Station’ - play for under-5s facilitated by North Tipperary Childcare Committee.
Thurles Leisure Centre (www.thurleslc.ie or 0504 58640) - 3pm - 4pm: Pool party games and fun €4 each, 6 to 14-year-olds and Aqua Walker an additional €5.
