Some people think that Ireland has changed for the better, not according to Gary and John, who combine stand up and sketches to point out that we are forever stuck in a wilderness of insanity.

Join the duo as they trawl the Irish underbelly, revealing a slew of deluded and dysfunctional headbangers along the way. Ireland is a mad house, laden with lunacy that swears to be sane. A rich tapestry of confusion, and all laid out on a platter for the richly funny comic pairing of John Colleary and Gary Cooke. There will be songs too.

John Colleary and Gary Cooke feature at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Saturday, September 13th 8pm. Tickets priced at €18 (€16 concession). Call the box office on 0504 90204 or visit thesourceartscentre.ie.

The Speks

The Speks - fun traditional Irish music for your little ones.

A County Clare-based nursery-rhyme-performing and traditional Irish band are gaining momentum in radio and education circles.

The Speks are a bunch of relatively unknown musicians from a mysterious island, Glasses Island, which lies off the coast of Clare and have come together to bring their brand of Irish music, accompanying all-time favourite nursery rhymes to the world and to Thurles!

Their debut album won a prestigious Parents’ Choice music award in the US and the music has already been downloaded in 40 countries, drawing rave reviews like “riverdance for toddlers” and “grown-up music for kids”.

Their songs encompass the all-important areas of rhyme, rhythm and repetition - so frequently the missing links for children learning to read.

Finding music that appeals to both children and parents is a hard thing to do these days, finding music that is bags of fun for the whole family? Look no further than The Speks- sing along and sing loud!
