Seán Hogan, winner of this year’s Tipperariana Book of the Year award for ‘The Black and Tans in North Tipperary, Policing, War and Revolution 1913-1922’, will take part in the Tipperariana Book Fair in Fethard on Sunday, February 9th from 2pm to 6pm.
Seán will attend so as to promote, sell and sign his book and to chat at length with the many people who are intensely interested in that pivotal period of our history.
Seán will be joined by other Tipperary authors and by thirty-four book dealers - of mostly secondhand and antiquarian books - from all over Ireland.
There will also be thousands of good value donated books for sale and with an entrance fee of only €2 , a café and a piano player it represents great value for money indeed - a fact noted by the Irish Times Magazine last Sunday (under ‘tip number 22’) in an article entitled ‘50 ways to make it to payday’!
The ‘Tipperariana Book of the Year 2013’ award was presented to Seán Hogan, from Puckane, at a function in the Abymill Theatre, Fethard on Friday, January 24th.
The ‘Tipperariana Book of the Year’ award is presented annually – Seán Hogan being the twelfth recipient – by the organisers of the Tipperariana Book Fair which is held on the second Sunday in February for the past nineteen years in Fethard’s own ‘Ballroom of Romance’.
The year 2013, like most other years, saw up to forty substantial books produced that are either by Tipperary authors or the subject matter concerns County Tipperary is some material way.
The ‘Tipperariana Award’ is both an acknowledgement of the great work done by the winning author and also an encouragement to all those researching Tipperary subjects, as it all goes to reinforce the tremendous sense of place that people have right across the county.
As the winning author for 2013 Seán Hogan will take pride of place at the upcoming Tipperariana Book Fair in Fethard on Sunday, February 9th (2pm-6pm).
Seán will be joined by other Tipperary authors and by thirty-four book dealers from all over Ireland. There will also be thousands of lower priced donated books for sale and anyone wishing to donate books to help raise funds for the Fethard Historical Society can do so by phoning 086 390 53 73 and collection will be arranged.
With an entrance fee of only €2, a Café and a live piano player the Fethard Book Fair represents great value for money.
