A very busy weekend of celebration and faith is planned in Kilbarron on the weekend of June 13th-15th when the Kilbarron and Terryglass parish will celebrate St Barron’s Church 200-year anniversary.

The celebrations will open on Friday evening, June 13th with a Christian country concert which features singer James Kilbane in St Barron’s Church and starts at 8pm.

The proceeds from the concert will go towards the purchase of a defibrillator for Kilbarron village.

On Saturday the local historical society will give a local tour, taking in the history of the old churches in the area and ending back in the village at St Barron’s church with a presentation in the hall. This will be followed on Saturday evening with a Cross Roads Dance and entertainment through the evening for all the family.

On Sunday morning you will be treated to the highlight of the weekend when Bishop Kieran O’Reilly will celebrate Mass at 2pm to mark the 200-year anniversary of the church. This event will then be followed by a photographic exhibition and refreshments in the community hall.
