One of Sligo’s best-known actors and directors, Mikel Murfi, is bringing a special show to the stage ‘The Man in the Woman’s Shoes’.

Mikel describes how being a native of Sligo he was always was interested in hearing different stories, visiting active age and retirement groups and country people. He took the stories and blended them into one character, Pat Farnon.

It’s October 1978 and Pat Farnon has ‘some business’ to do in town, but a five-mile walk is no joke when you have to do it in a pair of women’s shoes. Come with Pat on this hilarious journey as he encounters a host of characters with plenty to say forthemselves, the show mixes fond memories, nostalgia and of course laughter. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s sometimes downright daft, but you won’t forget ‘The Man in The Woman’s Shoes’.

‘The Man in The Woman’s Shoes’ has been developed by Sligo County Council Arts Service and Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo as part of Bealtaine 2012 and feature at The Source Arts Centre on Thursday, May 16th (8pm). Tickets are priced at E12 and the performance will be followed by a question and answer session with Mikel Murfi. For bookings please call the box office on 0504 90204 or online www.thesourceartscentre.ie. Why not make a night of it? The Source Café and Bar are open from 7pm.
