Fresh from his recent success in London’s West End, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Martin McDonagh’s ‘The Cripple of Inishman’, Pat Shortt has announced the dates for the tour of his hit one-man show ‘I am the Band’.
Pat Shortt’s hilarious one-man comedy show, ‘I Am The Band’, charts the story of the life and career of Dixie Walsh, the solo lounge musician known to countless thousands as the man who sang the perennially popular ‘The Jumbo Breakfast Roll’ and ‘Where Did My Money Go’.
One of Ireland’s best-loved comedians Pat Shortt has appeared in character as Dixie Walsh with one of the country’s biggest-selling number one singles ever, but until last year the much-loved Dixie had only appeared in a minor supporting role in two of Pat’s sell-out shows, ‘You Won’t Get Away With That Here’ and ‘The Hall’. Now it’s Dixie’s time to shine as he takes centre stage to tell his life story and share his unique style of music with you.
‘I Am The Band’ is a tribute night to Dixie when all his peers and friends (the audience) come to celebrate his career. Over the course of the night Dixie reminisces about the path his career has taken and the struggles he has had to endure to get to the top of his game.
Pat Short’s famously quirky interpretation of rural Irish characters bring to life Dixie’s mother, his teacher and other locals who queue up to recall their fascinatingly bizarre memories of Dixie and his music.
‘I Am The Band’ is a very funny look at life on the back roads between Ireland’s dance halls and a tribute to one of this country’s true music legends – Dixie Walsh.
