We had a very convivial evening for Press Release of 2012 Fleadh an Chontae 19/20th May in Roscrea Credit Union, we were welcomed by Brian King, who said that they were happy to host the event. Then the Cathaoirleach of Branch after also welcoming everyone gave us details of many events on run up to week-end, such as Credit Union Junior Quiz, also a history of local placenames Singing Session, Launch of C.D with Branch musicians, Launch of John Browne’s Book “ Wandering back and forth by Nora Butler, Singing Club in M. Phelan’s Pub. An award for an unsung hero, A competition for “Special Needs” children. In attendance were Very Rev. Corbett P.P. many business supporters and Councillors Pauline Coonan, Eddie Moran and Michael Smith, Noel Coonan T.D. called in on his way home from the Dail. There was lots of finger food including scrumptious scones.
The Interviewing Seminar in Bru Boru, Cashel on Saturday 28th April with Kieran Hanrahan of R.T.E. Ceili House, it was so informative, the equipment for recording was amazing, so compact, it gave a different slant on T.V. and Radio news items. Kieran was very kind and patient with us all. We were all treated to a lovely lunch by staff of Bru Boru.
Meeting of Comhairle na Mumhan In Hibernian Hotel Mallow on Wednesday 9th May ( Annual Congress will have taken place in Dublin week-end 5/6th May) Tipperary County Board Meeting in Hayes’ Hotel on Thursday 10th May at 8.30pm.
Craobh Sheain Ui Cheallanain will hold its Annual end of term Party for the Music Classes under tutors John, Kathleen and Francis Nesbitt in Hayes’ Hotel, Thurles on Saturday 12th May at 2p.m. to 4p.m. It is hoped that parents will come to enjoy the performances.
The Branch wishes the best of luck to our representatives who are entered in Fleadh an Chontae in Roscrea week-end 19th and 20th May, 2012. We would also like to thank the Nesbitt family and those who helped them over the year in tutoring pupils.
