The Bard of Knock Turns 80

Pat Joe Whelan from Knock, Roscrea, well known for writing and composing countless hurling poems, songs and ballads over the years celebrated his 80th birthday with family, friends, comrades and neighbours in the Auburn Lounge, Roscrea on Friday night, 27th April.

A legend in his own lifetime the popular Knock man astounds his friends with his youthful appearance. Although he has experienced a bout of ill health in the past year, he is now in great form again. Pat Joe keeps fit by walking a few miles most days. His dear wife Patricia passed away last June. He published his best selling book, “Tales in Song and Stories Hero’s of Renown” in 2004 and will publish his second book “Down the Long Road of Golden Memories” next year. His many, many friends and neighbours wish this very popular man, friend and character all that is best in the years ahead.
