There’s a cheerfully heartening stretch in the evening down the Mall as we head towards the Source Regional Arts Centre for the official opening of the remodelled Source Café down by the river Suir near the bridge in midtown Thurles.

There is a huge and convivial gathering for the occasion, including The Mayor of North Tipperary, Councillor John Kennedy (Chairperson of the Board of Directors) and former Thurles Mayor, Mrs Mae Quinn, accompanied by husband, Michael who is uncle of former Republic of Ireland striker, Niall Quinn.

The Artistic Director of the Source, Claudia Woolgar, has a failte is fichead for everybody, including the folks who had attended the wonderful Thomas Barron Art Exhibition in the adjacent Source Art Gallery.

The new-look Café overlooking the boardwalk by the Suir might even remind some folks of their visits to Paris by the Seine in the Springtime.

Ooh la la - the romance of it all! Though one gentleman said it reminded him of a setting, nearer home, in Dublin.

Of course, you could meet all sorts of celebrities in the Source because of the huge array of entertainers, singers, musicians, theatre folk, and others who visit there on a regular basis.

There is a cosmopolitan aspect to the cosy occasion for the new folks in charge of the Source Café are husband and wife, Matt and Sheena Lacovara.

Matt is of Italian parents and Sheena of Irish parents.
