There were eleven branches presented at our County meeting in Hayes Hotel on Monday the 7th of September. Everyone was delighted to welcome back our Cathaoirleach Pat Loughman, who is making good recovery after his operation.
Runaí Donnacha O’Cinneide reported that 2011 Fleadh na Mumhan in Ballincollig was very successful. There was a good attendance at the Slow-Air workshop for 12-18 years as well as the Slide & Polka workshop and the Set & Figure dancing competitions which were held over two days. The college was a great venue with plenty of space to practice and meet up with friends.
The 2011 Fleadh na Eireann was also a success even though some venues were far apart. So Martin Donoghue and his committee were so glad when the Ard Comhairle voted last weekend to have the 2012 Fleadh na Eireann in Cavan again. There were applications from Ennis and Sligo wanting to host the Fleadh. The deposit from Cavan already lodged.
Comhaltas Ceoilteoiri na Eireann are working hard to implement their 3 year plan to ensure the full revival of the Irish language and have requested all membership forms be completed in Irish, also all names on Fleadh forms to be in Irish. All branch AGM’s to be held before the 30th of September. This is a requirement from Head Office. All membership and insurance to be with the County manager within a few days of the branch AGM.

Ceol an Gheimhreadh will be held in November this year, so hopefully branches will start preparing now. We are lucky for 2012 that we all ready know Roscrea will host the County Fleadh in May celebrating the Branch’s 50th anniversary.
