News that a world-class equestrian facility will be located in the heart of Ireland has been warmly welcomed by Ireland’s show jumping enthusiasts.
The Equestrian Venue will form part of The Tipperary Venue site which covers approximately 900 acres in Two-Mile-Borris and has been designed as a world class equestrian facility capable of hosting the largest events on the international equestrian calendar. These will include International Showjumping, International Dressage, Eventing Dressage, Eventing Showjumping, Para-dressage, Vaulting and Reining competitions.
Last November, North Tipperary County Council granted planning permission for the development of a €460 million, 900-acre cultural, sporting and leisure development, known as The Tipperary Venue.
Speaking at the launch of The Equestrian Venue which was held at the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Independent T.D. for Tipperary North, Michael Lowry, said, “The proposed International Equestrian Centre enhances our vision for The Tipperary Venue, which is that of a world-class cultural, sporting and leisure facility. Ireland has lacked a quality international arena and The Tipperary Venue Equestrian Centre will provide much-needed facilities for world-class show jumpers. This new centre with its state of the art facilities will promote and encourage sport, leisure and breeding side of the Equestrian industry.”
The indoor arenas will comprise of a gross floor building area of approximately 34,000 square metres. This aspect of the project will include, a 5,000 seat, 80mx40m main equestrian indoor arena, together with a dedicated 60m x 30m warm-up arena.
