The Source Film Club will screen ‘The Broken Circle Breakdown’ at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, May 7th at 8pm.

In the film a couple struggle to hold it together when their young daughter falls gravely ill in Felix van Groeningen’s emotionally-charged drama.

The film opens in a hospital where Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) and Elise (Veerle Baetens) are reeling from the news that their little daughter Maybelle has cancer.

As the shocked couple struggle to take the news in, we are taken back to the moment when they first met and fell in love. As the story alternates between the past and present we trace the journey of how this young family’s intense happiness eventually turns to deep pain as Maybelle’s condition worsens.

Infused with gorgeous bluegrass music ‘The Broken Circle Breakdown’ is a remarkable human drama about love, passion, heartbreak and hope with wonderful performances by the two leads.

The film will be screened at The Source on Wednesday, 7th May at 8pm. Tickets: €9 (€7 concession & €5 for Film Club members).
