As a former documentary filmmaker Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda has a talent for giving his films a naturalistic feel, even when touching on subjects with a mystical slant such as his latest, ‘I Wish’, the story of two brothers trying to reunite their family.
Brothers Koichi and Ryunosuke are devastated when their parents’ divorce means they will be separated from each other. One day Koichi hears a rumour that a supernatural energy is created at the point two new bullet trains pass each other and convinces his brother they must embark on a trip together to find the magical location so they can wish for their parents to be reunited.
‘I Wish’ will be screened at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, October 2nd at 8pm. Tickets: €9 (€7 concession & €5 for Film Club members). Call 0504 90204 or visit www.thesourceartscentre.ie.
