Roscrea’s Nicole Drought, (21), is making quite a name for herself in motor racing circles lately
Having made her debut earlier this year in the Irish Touring Car Championship, she has already finished on the class podium three times and currently lies 3rd in the Touring Class championship, driving her 2.0 Honda Integra. On Sunday, she was invited to drive ASK Racing’s Porsche 944 Turbo at the prestigious Classic Car Live event at Mondello Park. Despite not having driven the car before and not being used to rear wheel drive, Nicole acclimatised herself admirably, qualifying 6th in a grid of 18 cars. In race one, in front of a capacity crowd, she charged to fourth and just missed out on third after a fantastic battle with a V12 Jaguar and she emulated this result in race two. The Historic Race Car Association subsequently awarded Nicole with 1st Newcomer trophy- as well as fourth overall. Nicole, who has just turned 21, is a student of accounting and finance in UL Limerick, is sponsored by Owain Drought Car Sales, RAE Autofactors and Tee Fire Safety Solutions. Nicole’s next race is July 12th when she returns to the ITCC in her usual Honda Integra and the race will she shown live on www.mondello.tv For further information or more images please contact Leo Nulty- 087-6693946 or email@example.com Attached images from Jennifer Tonin are copyright free.
