The 20th Tipperariana Book Fair will take place in Fethard on Sunday, February 8th from 2pm to 6pm.
The Tipperariana Book Fair has taken place in the Fethard Ballroom on the second Sunday of February for the past twenty years.
And, it has become the biggest one–day book fair in Ireland with thirty-five book dealers attending this year.
The fair is organised by The Fethard Historical Society and the annual book fair is the group’s sole fundraising event of the year.
This Fethard fair concentrates mostly on antiquarian, second hand and out of print books that are sought after by the hundreds of collectors and bookworms who come to Fethard year after year.
The Tipperariana Fair has now become a Tipperary institution where people come to meet and to find and buy that special book that they have longed to lay their hands on for many years.
But there are also stalls that deal in pulp fiction paperbacks and the Historical Society’s own stall has thousands of such books that are kindly donated by people from all over the county.
Also, authors of Tipperary books , published in 2014, will also be present and pride of place will go to FrPaddy Ryan whose book ,‘Archbishop Miler Magrath The Enigma of Cashel’, was chosen as the Tipperariana Book of the Year for 2014.
The fair is open to the public between 2pm and 6pm and a café will be in operation while a piano player serenades the crowd. The entrance fee is only €2.
So, a €5 note will get you in , get you coffee and cakes and a few paperbacks as well!
