History will be made this August Bank Holiday when Catherine Maher of Devilsbit Macra na Feirme will represent North Tipperary Macra at the International Miss Macra Festival.

This will be the first time that Devilsbit Macra will have a contestant in the competition in the group’s ten-year history.

Catherine, a member of Macra for the last four years, is currently club secretary and is considered by members as “the glue that keeps the club together”.

Catherine is also very busy in her role as Regional Competitions Chairperson taking responsibility for the organisation of all Macra competitions for North Tipperary.

Catherine Maher has also recently been elected captain of the North Tipperary Macra Relay for Life Team which last year raised 3,500 euros.

Aside from her Macra activities Catherine Maher works as a chef in Bobby Reidy’s Bar in Newtown, Nenagh and is receiving great support and best wishes from all the customers and staff.

Excitement is growing in the Devilsbit Macra na Feirme club and a huge contingent will be heading for Dundrum House Hotel. To cater for the demand a bus has been organised for the Saturday night and anybody interested in traveling can contact 085 103 8309 by Friday, evening July 26th. The club wishes Catherine the very best of luck and everyone is really looking forward to a brilliant weekend which is not to be missed.
